Two males are facing charges after installing payment skimming devices to defraud customers at a gas station in Clarington, Ont., Durham police said.
Police said on Mar. 3, just before 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a call at a gas station in the area of Concession Road 8 and Highway 35/115.
Durham police said an employee had been inspecting gas pumps at the station when they discovered card skimming devices on the payment readers.
Employees then identified the suspects who installed the devices through video footage, police said.
The suspects returned to the gas station later in the day to retrieve the card skimmers and officers located them a short distance away.
Police say they searched the suspects’ vehicle and found electronic skimming devices and drugs.
Arthick Antonito, 43, from Pickering, and Kajatheepan Karunakaran, 36, from Toronto were both arrested. They are facing various fraud and drug-related charges.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.
