A 24-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly pulling out an imitation firearm and threatening someone in Ajax last month.
Durham Regional Police said they responded to an armed person call on the afternoon of March 13, in the area of Bayly Street West and Monarch Avenue.
Police said two men got into a verbal fight when one of them pulled out a gun. The suspect took off before officers arrived, police said, and the victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
It was an isolated incident, police say, as the two men know each other. Police did not detail the nature of their relationship.
Durham police apprehended the suspect on Wednesday, identified as Hedayatullah Atal of Oshawa.
Atal has been charged with six offences, including uttering threats and using an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence.
The charges have not been tested in court.
Investigators said they also conducted a search warrant at a home in Oshawa where they found and seized an imitation firearm.
