77-year-old pedestrian struck and killed in Ajax

Emergency crews are on the scene of a collision in Ajax on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

A 77-year-old man is dead after police say he was struck by a vehicle in Ajax late Tuesday night.

It happened near Westney Road South and Bramwell Drive at around 10:30 p.m.

Police said the man was crossing Westney Road South when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai sedan.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old woman, was not injured and remained at the scene.

The man was rushed to a Toronto-area trauma centre and was later pronounced dead.

“Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The cause of this collision remains under investigation,” police said in a news release issued Wednesday.
