A road maintenance worker filling potholes was injured in a hit-and-run collision in Ajax on Monday afternoon, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say.

It happened at around 1:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 401, near Westney Road.

Ontario Provincial Police said workers were out on the highway at the time of the crash.

Police said a vehicle struck a male worker.

His injuries are being “treated as minor” and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment, the OPP said.
