A youth is in hospital following a stabbing in Pickering on Wednesday afternoon.
Durham police say they got a call for a stabbing in the area of Liverpool Road and Finch Avenue.
When they arrived, officers located a youth suffering from a stab wound, police say.
The victim was shortly taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where they are in stable condition.
Meanwhile, police say they later located the suspect and took them into custody.
“This was an isolated incident and there are no concerns for public safety,” a Durham police spokesperson said in an email to CTV News Toronto.
The circumstances that led to the stabbing are not immediately known. It is unclear whether the victim and the suspect know each other.
