Oshawa crash leaves 40-year-old driver dead

Police say a driver lost control of his vehicle before crashing into several trees and a fence.

A 40-year-old man is dead after striking two trees in Oshawa on Friday night.

Durham Regional Police said they got a call shortly before 10:30 p.m. for a crash on Adelaide Avenue East, east of Blackthorn Street.

The man was driving a Toyota and travelling west on Adelaide Avenue East when, for unknown reasons, he left the road and struck a mature tree, police said.

“The vehicle continued forward and struck another mature tree before coming to a final stop,” police said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
