Police are seeking information and witnesses after an unknown number of suspects allegedly used an excavator to damage a financial institution and stole an ATM.

The robbery happened on Monday at the TD Bank at 83 Williamson Dr., near Westney Road North between Taunton and Rossland roads in Ajax.

Durham Regional Police said they were called to that area at around 4:20 a.m. for reports of a break-and-enter.

Police say that responding officers then found a parked unoccupied construction excavator near an area of the building with extensive damage.

They said at least one automated teller machine was stolen from the damaged area of the bank.

The suspect all fled the area prior to police arriving at the scene.
