A former employee of a financial business in Pickering is accused of breaking into the office with a stolen key fob and stealing more than $22,000 worth of electronics.

Durham Regional Police said they responded to a break-and-enter sometime last month, to a business in the area of Liverpool Road and Pickering Parkway.

Police said staff were notified that the ex-employee was accessing their office.

Upon further investigation, police said the suspect had allegedly used the stolen key fob several times between April and May this year.

Police said they executed a search warrant at a home in Oshawa on July 3, and arrested the suspect near the home without incident.

On Monday, Durham police said they charged 35-year-old Oluwaloseyitan Jermaine Kentebe. The Oshawa resident has been charged with break-and-enter and possession of property obtained by crime.

The charges have not been tested in court.
