A 30-year-old Pickering man has been charged after multiple 3D printed firearms and knives were found during a police search of his home.

The Ontario Provincial Police said their investigation began when a loaded 3D printed handgun was discovered in the glove box of a vehicle involved in a collision in the area of Highways 412 and 401 in Whitby on June 27.

The driver of the vehicle who also was allegedly wearing a holster was arrested shortly after, police said.

Police conducted a search of his vehicle and, on Thursday, with judicial authority, his residence.

OPP said a total of 26 exhibits were seized from the home, including a 3D printer, three more 3D printed firearms, 3D printed knives, firearm components and ammunition.

As a result, the man is facing multiple weapons charges and remains in custody.
