68-year-old man dead after being struck by SUV in Pickering parking lot

Police investigating after man was struck by an SUV in a parking lot in Pickering on Saturday July 12, 2026 (CP24 photo).

Durham regional police are investigating after a 68-year-old man was struck by an SUV in a parking lot in Pickering late Saturday night.

The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. in the parking lot of 1105 Kingston Rd.

Police say a black Ford SUV was travelling through the parking lot when it struck the pedestrian, trapping him underneath the vehicle.

“Responding police officers lifted the Ford SUV to extract the pedestrian and performed life-saving measures,” officials wrote in a news release. “Despite the efforts of emergency services personnel, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.”

Officials also say that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to come forward.
