A 14-year-old boy was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries Wednesday night after he was struck by the driver of a pickup truck in Whitby.
In a news release, officials say officers responded to the area of Garden Street and Manning Road at approximately 9 p.m. after receiving reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a pickup truck.
Police say the teen was riding his bicycle southbound in the crosswalk when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck that was making a right turn.
The boy was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The 40-year-old woman driving the pickup truck remained at the scene, officers noted.
Investigators are asking anyone with cellphone, dashcam or surveillance footage, or information about the collision, to contact police.
