Halton police say they have charged one of their civilian employees, who is accused of posing as a female model scout to get intimate photos from adult victims.
In a news release on Thursday, police said the employee also allegedly made false promises to pay the victims, which he never did.
As a result, 42-year-old Ken Mackenzie of Guelph was arrested on Wednesday. He was charged with fraud over $5,000 and obtaining property by deception.
He has also been suspended with pay.
Police said Mackenzie used the handle @stephy_rk on Instagram.
“We are committed to upholding public trust. The actions alleged in this investigation do not reflect the values of the service or the dedication of our officers and civilian members,” Halton police Chief Stephen Tanner said in a news release on Thursday.
“The police service stands on a foundation of integrity and we hold all members—sworn and civilian alike—to the highest standards of professionalism and conduct.”
Police said they are not providing further comments as the case is now before the courts.
As they believe there may be additional victims, investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them at 905-825-4777 ext. 8967 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
