A Brampton man is facing charges after allegedly exploiting female newcomers to Canada seeking work, police say.

Halton Regional Police Service say they investigated two separate incidents, in March and December 2025, and subsequently laid charges against one man.

Investigators say in both cases, the accused posted “help wanted” ads on Kijiji for entry-level data entry jobs.

Police say one incident happened in Milton, while the other occurred in Halton Hills.

“After arranging interviews, the victims were picked up by the accused and driven to isolated industrial parking lots,” they said in a news release.

“In one occurrence, a victim was sexually assaulted. In a separate incident, a victim was offered employment opportunities that required a sexual relationship with the accused.”

Police say officers identified the accused through their investigation.

On Monday, they located and arrested 47-year-old Tejinder Dhaliwal in Brampton.

He has been charged with sexual assault and obtaining sexual services for consideration.

The accused was held for a Jan. 27 bail hearing and was subsequently released on the same date, police said.

Halton police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who may have information, or anyone who believes they were victimized by the accused, contact their Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777, ext. 8970, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
