Halton police are seeking the public’s help identifying a dark-coloured SUV that was caught on video near the scene of a fatal shooting at Burlington Centre earlier this week.
Police say the vehicle was observed in “close proximity” to the shooting in the mall parking lot at 777 Guelph Line on Feb. 9 at approximately 10:10 p.m.
There, officers responded to reports of a man who had been shot. The victim was transported to hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police have identified him as 24-year-old Omer Niaz Muhammad, of Burlington.
CP24 has since learned Muhammad was an aspiring rapper from Hamilton who performed under the stage name Lil OT.

Investigators say two suspects fled the scene in a white SUV. That vehicle was located a short time later in the City of Hamilton, where it had been abandoned and set on fire.
At the time, Const. Jeff Dillon told reporters, “We do believe that this was a targeted incident. We don’t believe there is any known risk to public safety.”

Police say they are now working to determine and “clarify” the involvement of the dark-coloured SUV captured on video.
Anyone who can identify the vehicle or its occupants, or who may have security or dash camera footage from the area, is asked to contact the Halton police Major Crime Bureau.
No arrests have been made but the investigation remains ongoing.
