Airways Transit says it has made the difficult decision to shut down.
The shuttle service offered direct rides to and from airports in Waterloo Region, Toronto and Hamilton, with pick-ups and drop-offs in the Greater Hamilton-Wentworth area, Burlington, Oakville and across Waterloo Region.
“The business has been unprofitable since experiencing a significant reduction in sales during and following the COVID-19 pandemic,” the company explained in a statement to CTV News. “Despite ongoing efforts to stabilize operations, manage debt obligations and return to profitability, it has become clear that continuing operations is no longer viable.”
Airways Transit said they will cease operations as of Saturday.
“We are working to honour all trips booked through February 21, 2026,” their email continued. “All departures scheduled after that date have been cancelled to provide customers with as much advance notice as possible to make alternate travel arrangements.”
Anyone who booked a trip after that date is urged to contact their credit car provider to “inquire about reimbursement options for trip-related payments.”
Airways Transit, which has been in business since 1975, also acknowledged the impact the decision might have on travelers.
“We understand this news is disappointing and sincerely thank our customers, partners, and employees for their support over the years.”
