Police in Halton Region have charged a man accused of shipping a package containing cocaine through Canada Post.
Halton Regional Police said they launched an investigation into the incident in February, and over the next few weeks, they identified a suspect.
Last Monday, 42-year-old Trevor Herdman was arrested following a search of his home in Burlington.
Police said they also seized 13 grams of cocaine, evidence related to Canada Post shipping, a crossbow, fraudulent licence plates, about 70,000 illegal cigarettes and a stolen Dodge pickup truck during the search.
Herdman is facing nine criminal charges, including four drug-related offences, two counts of possession of a crossbow, two counts of driving while prohibited and tampering with a VIN (vehicle identification number).
He has also been charged with four counts of driving while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police noted that Herdman was on federal statutory release for drug trafficking and stolen property-related offences at the time of his arrest.
