A popular YouTube group known as the NELK Boys have become the latest victims of auto theft in the GTA.
The group, who are behind an account with more than 8.4 million subscribers, posted a series of videos to social media this week after they said that their rental vehicle was stolen from outside an Airbnb in Oakville, Ont.
The incident happened sometime overnight between May 12 and May 13.
Halton Regional police told CP24 that they were contacted about an auto theft involving a Chevrolet SUV in the area.
“We’re staying in Canada, Airbnb in the suburbs... walk out to go to the gym this morning, look for our rental car... it’s f***** gone,” Kyle Forgeard, a Mississauga, Ont., born member of the group said in a video posted Wednesday morning. “Look how nice this neighbourhood is too... someone came in the middle of the night and stole our rental car.”
Forgeard said in the video that while the car was a rental, he was upset because his golf clubs and other belongings were in the car.
However, just hours later, at 7 p.m., the creators posted another clip appearing to show an officer on FaceTime telling them the SUV had been located in Brampton, Ont., with their belongings still inside.

Peel police later confirmed to CP24 that officers recovered a stolen, unoccupied SUV in the area of Queen Mary Drive and Mayfield Road in Brampton.
“This is an open and ongoing investigation. Therefore, we will not be providing any further details at this time,” officials wrote.
By Thursday, the group then posted security camera footage. In the footage, a lone suspect can be seen exiting a dark SUV and approaching the rental vehicle.

Peel investigators did not identify any members of the group but Halton police confirmed they were investigating a theft matching the description and timeframe of the vehicle shown online.
There have been no arrests made at this time and no word on possible suspects but police note the investigation remains ongoing.
The videos posted by the Nelk Boys have each been viewed more than 1.4 million times as of publication.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Peel Regional Police 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau.
