Halton Regional Police say an investigation into a “high-level drug trafficking network” operating throughout the Greater Toronto Area has resulted in the largest firearms bust in the department’s history.

Police said all of the firearms seized in Project Cyprus, an investigation into a “sophisticated and well-organized” drug trafficking network, originated from the United States.

Police are speaking about the bust at a news conference at Halton Regional Police headquarters in Oakville.

Police Chief of Police Stephen Tanner will speak at the event, along with Deputy Chief Roger Wilkie and Halton Police Board Chair Jeff Knoll.
