A convicted killer and high-risk sex offender wanted by Montreal police on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested in Hamilton, Ont.

Christopher Watts, 66, was unlawfully at large after fleeing the Montreal halfway house he was residing in after he was released from custody on May 28. On behalf of Correctional Service Canada, Montreal police issued a plea for the public for information about his whereabouts since he went missing on June 4.

On Thursday, Halton police said some of its officers noticed an unoccupied vehicle registered to Watts parked in LaSalle Park in Burlington, Ont. on June 9. They surveilled the vehicle until they found an opportunity to arrest him later that evening.
