A serious collision has temporarily shuttered the Hwy. 407 westbound ramp to Plains Road on Monday morning, provincial police say.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the collision involved two vehicles at around 7:45 a.m.
“A two-vehicle collision occurred here that resulted in possibly life-altering injuries to one of the occupants,” OPP Const. Rob Tihor said in a video post on social media.
Police say a total of three people were sent to the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are unclear at this time, but Const. Tihor said traffic support units are currently on scene investigating the incident.
“They’ll look at driver action, physical evidence of the scene, road, and weather conditions at the time of the collision, and possibly lack of seatbelt use that resulted in the injuries,” Const. Tihor said.
Police expect the roads to remain closed until around 2 p.m. and will provide an update when they have reopened.
