Provincial police say all traffic is being diverted off James Snow Parkway following a multi-vehicle collision on the eastbound Highway 401 through Milton, which critically injured one person.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a vehicle crashed with the crash cushion that separates the collectors from the express lanes east of James Snow Parkway on Monday afternoon.
This sent the vehicle “out of control” and into the path of an eastbound tractor-trailer, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video shared online.
“Two occupants in that vehicle, the driver taken to hospital right now with what I’m told are serious, life-threatening injuries,” Schmidt said. “The other passenger in the vehicle had very minor injuries.”
Schmidt says a total of four vehicles were involved with the collision.
While all of the eastbound lanes are closed, police say the westbound lanes remain open. However, Schmidt cautions drivers traffic in these lanes will likely be “very slow.”
“I expect the closure at James Snow will remain for several hours while the cleanup and investigation continues,” Schmidt said.
This is a developing story. More details to come...
