Police are investigating after a fatal collision involving a motorcycle on Hamilton Mountain.
According to police, at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, a Chevy pickup truck was northbound turning left onto Mohawk Road from Upper James Street when a motorcyclist heading south crashed into the side of the truck.
The 32-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the 68-year-old driver of the truck was uninjured. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police noted.
“The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and has carriage of the investigation,” police said in a news release.
“Investigators are requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their footage.”
Police said “all contributing factors” are being considered when investigating the cause of the crash.
The intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
