A 31-year-old man has been charged after a swastika was spray-painted on a Hamilton business in September.

Hamilton police said they were notified of the incident on Sept. 11.

A security camera caught a suspect spray-painting hate graffiti on the property located near James Street North and Murray Street West, police said.

After making a public appeal for information, investigators were able to identify the suspect and arrest him. He has been charged with mischief of property.

“Hate graffiti is more than an act of vandalism — it is an attack on the dignity of individuals and communities,” police said in a statement on Thursday.

“Reporting helps police take immediate action and supports our shared goal of keeping Hamilton safe and welcoming for everyone.”
