Hamilton police search for 2 suspects following alleged hate-motivated assault against transgender person

Hamilton police are searching for two suspects after a member of the transgender community was allegedly assaulted in the Hess Village on Oct. 25, 2025.

Hamilton police are searching for two suspects after a member of the transgender community was allegedly assaulted downtown last month.

Police say the “physical altercation” happened on Hess St. South, also known as the Hess Village, between King and Main streets, at around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 25.

“Several individuals took part in an assault on a transgender community member,” police say in a release.

They add that video from the area shows portions of the assault and the individuals involved before they left.

Patrol members and the Hate Crime Unit are now investigating, and police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have video footage from the area to contact them.

They’re asking people in the area to review any recordings taken between 1:30 a.m. and 2:40 a.m. on the date of the assault.
