A 70-year-old man has died following a house fire in Hamilton on Saturday.
Hamilton police say they got a call shortly before noon to respond to a fire on Spadina Avenue near Dunsmure Road and Gage Avenue South.
One resident sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. In an update, police say the resident succumbed to his injuries.
The fire damage was limited to one room, police say. The cause, origin and circumstances of the fire are unknown.
Police say their arson unit has taken over the investigation.
“The investigation remains ongoing; however, at this time, no element of criminality is suspected,” police said in a news release on Saturday.
