A 29-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly setting a vehicle on fire and attempting to steal other vehicles along the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.

Hamilton police say they discovered a vehicle completely set ablaze in the westbound lanes of the parkway when they arrived at the scene on Thursday night, at around 9:45 p.m.

Police say the vehicle appeared to have been abandoned.

Witnesses told police at the scene they saw a man run away from the area shortly before officers arrived.

As police conducted their initial investigation, the service says they started to receive calls of a man trying to carjack vehicles on the LINC. Those attempts were unsuccessful, police added.

Shortly after, officers say they found the suspect inside of a vehicle belonging to an uninvolved driver.

In Friday’s release, police say the man was charged with robbery and arson. They did not identify the suspect.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
