Driver charged after pickup truck crashes into No Frills in Brantford

Police say a crash involving a pickup truck caused significant damage to both the interior and exterior of a No Frills in Brantford.

A driver is facing impaired driving charges after a pickup truck crashed into a Colborne Street grocery store Saturday afternoon.

Brantford Police say they responded shortly after 2 p.m. to reports of a single-vehicle collision in which a truck had struck a No Frills.

Officers arrived to find the vehicle partially embedded in the structure after pushing through an exterior wall. Police say the crash caused significant damage to both the interior and exterior of the property.

Following an investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

Police say there were no reported injuries.

“The Brantford Police Service has zero tolerance for impaired driving. This reckless behaviour places innocent members of our community at serious risk and will not be tolerated,” police said in a media release. “We remain committed to proactive enforcement and holding offenders accountable to help ensure the safety of our roads and public spaces.”
