Hamilton police have charged three youths in connection with an assault that occurred near a business in the Stoney Creek area last week.
Police said on Feb. 27, just after 12 p.m., a teenage student had attended a business during her lunch period when she was approached by several youths and agreed to leave the business.
Once outside, police said the student was physically assaulted by three masked female youths.
“A staff member from the business intervened, causing the suspects to flee the area,” police said in a release.
The victim returned to her nearby secondary school, police said, and staff contacted emergency services. She was taken to the hospital by paramedics in stable condition.
Three female youths, aged 14 and 15, have each been charged assault and disguise with intent to commit an offence.
All three accused were arrested and later released on undertakings with conditions. They cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
