One person is dead and six others are injured in a head-on collision on Highway 8 in Hamilton.
Emergency crews were first called to westbound lanes of the highway near Safari Road at 6:45 a.m. Police said the collision involved two passenger vehicles.
The passenger of one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene.
One person was airlifted to the hospital by Ornge, while five others were transported to the hospital and there is no word on the severity of their injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours and reopened at 3:45 p.m.
UPDATE (12:30 p.m.): The passenger of one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene. One individual was transported to hospital by Air Ornge and five other involved individuals were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries. (2/2)
