The province’s police watchdog is investigating allegations of sexual assault after a woman was arrested at Cardi B’s concert in Hamilton on Tuesday night.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said security at TD Coliseum, near Bay Street North and York Boulevard, requested paid duty Hamilton police officers to assist them in removing a woman from the venue.
It is unclear why the woman was removed.
The SIU said officers attended and “used physical control to escort the woman from the venue.”
It was not mentioned in the release why the agency invoked its mandate, but in an email to CP24, an SIU spokesperson confirmed that allegations of sexual assault were made.
The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates the conduct of police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
No subject official has been designated at this time.
The SIU is asking anyone with information to contact its lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
