One person has been found dead following a residential fire in Brantford, with the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) investigating the circumstances.
Brantford Fire responded at approximately 4:42 p.m. on Thursday to a structure fire at 103 Banbury Road.
Crews arrived to find light smoke coming from the home. After entering the residence, firefighters located and quickly extinguished a fire on the second floor.
During a search of the home, a female was found deceased in a bedroom on the second floor.
Brantford Police secured the scene overnight. The Office of the Fire Marshal attended the property on Friday to begin its investigation.
The cause of the fire and the identity of the deceased have not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
