Teen killed in Highway 6 crash in Haldimand County: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police investigate deadly Highway 6 collision in Haldimand County that left a teen dead and one injured.

A 17-year-old Caledonia resident is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6 in Haldimand County, Ontario Provincial Police say.

Emergency crews were called to the crash on Highway 6 near 5th Line at approximately 5:05 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle was airlifted to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 6 was closed between 4th Line and 5th Line as members of the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigation unit and a collision reconstructionist examined the scene.

Police have not released the identity of the deceased.

Investigators have not said what factors may have contributed to the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision to contact the Haldimand OPP.
