Two women are facing charges after they allegedly dragged a woman by her hair and uttered racial slurs following a fight over a parking spot in Hamilton, Ont., last weekend.
It happened at around 9:35 p.m. on Sunday in a parking lot located in the area of Upper Wellington and Concession streets.
When Hamilton police officers arrived at the scene, they said they learned a female victim had been involved in a verbal dispute with two women over a parking issue.
The argument escalated, police said, and the victim was allegedly assaulted.
“During the assault, the victim was allegedly punched, pulled to the ground, and dragged by her hair while the suspects uttered racial slurs at the victim,” Friday’s news release reads.
Police say the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics had been notified but officials said she declined transportation to the hospital.
The pair of suspects took off in a white Lexus SUV before police arrived.
A few days later, however, police identified the suspects.
On Wednesday, police arrested a 22-year-old woman and then on Thursday they arrested a 26-year-old woman.
Police did not disclose their identities but said both suspects have been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The charges have not been tested in court.
