A wanted man is back in police custody after Brantford Police Service officers spotted him while patrolling the downtown area.
Officers were in the Queen Street and Dalhousie Street area on Wednesday around 5:05 p.m. when they saw the man who was wanted for an assault near Colborne Street and Fordview Drive on July 14. Police said the wanted man had assaulted a man he knew with the blunt end of a hatchet.
They stopped him, arrested him, and found crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The 41-year-old from Brantford was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and disobeying a court order.
