Flamboro Speedway employee dies after workplace accident on track

An employee has died after a workplace accident at Flamboro Speedway late Saturday night.

In a news release, Hamilton police say officers were called to the scene shortly after 9 p.m. following reports that an employee had been injured in an accident on the track.

The employee was taken to Hamilton General Hospital where police say they later died from their injuries. No age or description has been provided.

Police did note that patrol officers remained at the scene alongside divisional detectives, forensic investigators and collision reconstruction officers, who assisted the Ministry of Labour with its investigation.

The circumstance leading up the incident remain unclear.

The Ministry of Labour has taken over of the investigation.
