A Hamilton man’s vehicle has been taken off the road after he walked away from a crash site in Guelph.
Guelph Police Service officers were called to a rear-end collision at Willow Road and Edinburgh Road North around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
A woman told police she had been stopped when her vehicle was hit from behind. Both vehicles involved in the crash were significantly damaged.
When the woman told the other driver she was calling police, he reportedly walked away. Police found him about a half-hour later.
When officers inspected the man’s vehicle, they found several defects, including improper tires, no mufflers and faulty windshield wipers. They said the vehicle was also missing a front licence plate.
A 20-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with careless driving, failure to remain, operating an unsafe vehicle, driving without insurance and several other Highway Traffic Act violations.
