Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help locating a family urn containing a person’s ashes after it was allegedly stolen during a break-in at a vacant home.
Police say a fire at a home on Rosslyn Avenue on Aug. 21, destroyed a neighbouring home and forced the residents to temporarily relocate while repairs were completed.
During that time, someone broke into the vacant home and allegedly stole jewelry, collectible items and other valuables, police said.
Police say the urn containing the victim’s parent’s ashes was also taken.
Investigators are hoping to reunite the victim with their loved one’s ashes and are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Const. Olivia Hutchison at 905-546-2956.
