Two charged after Simcoe drug overdose death

Two people have been charged in connection with a sudden death investigation in Simcoe after a post-mortem examination determined a man’s death was caused by a drug overdose.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unresponsive person at a property on Queen Street North at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2025.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Norfolk County OPP said a post-mortem examination later determined the cause of death was a drug overdose.

On Sept. 29, 2026, two people were arrested and charged in connection with the investigation.

A 19-year-old of Oxford County resident was charged with trafficking in Schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin.)

A 22-year-old Haldimand County resident was charged with trafficking in Schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin.)

The investigation remains ongoing.
