A second suspect has been charged after a woman was found dead in a parking lot behind a building in downtown Niagara Falls, Ont., earlier this month.

On Oct. 14, Niagara Regional Police officers responded to the area of Main and Ferry streets for a report of a sudden death.

Police say they found a 22-year-old woman’s body when they arrived at the scene.

After the investigation was turned over to their homicide unit, Niagara police say they arrested 43-year-old Christopher St. Louis. He was charged with indignity to a body.

Detectives were searching for a second suspect wanted in the investigation, whom they identified as 38-year-old Ryan Maeder, of Niagara Falls.

Authorities say Maeder turned himself in at around noon on Tuesday. He has been charged with indignity to a body and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Wednesday in St. Catharines.

The cause of the woman’s death remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
