Police are searching for the owner of a sealed wooden urn, containing the remains of a loved one, after it was discovered at a thrift store in the Niagara Region.
Niagara Regional Police said they responded to the West Lincoln Community Care Thrift Store on Monday after receiving a call about found remains.
Investigators determined the urn was donated sometime between Nov. 19 and Nov. 20. At this time, police are unsure if the cremated remains belonged to an animal or human.
What is believed to be an identification number, 528395, is scrawled on the bottom of the urn’s lid.

Detectives released an image of the container and are calling on the public for help identifying who donated this urn in an attempt to return the cremated remains to their rightful owner.
Investigators are asking anyone with knowledge of the cremation industry that may recognize the style of the urn or its six-digit number to call them
