Arrest made in St. Catharines murder investigation: police

A local man was arrested on Monday in connection to a St. Catharines homicide last week.

Niagara police said they were called to a home near Lakeshore Road and Lake Street on May 15 at around 4:15 p.m. for reports of two people without vital signs.

When they arrived at the scene, police said they found a dead woman inside the home. They also located a man who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The injured man was arrested as part of the homicide investigation, Niagara police confirmed to CP24 in an email Tuesday.

Joshua St Omer, 40, was charged with second-degree murder Niagara police announced in a press release on Tuesday.

Police are not identifying the woman at this time but they’re calling the death “suspicious.”
