A 22-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving following a hit-and-run in Niagara-on-the-Lake that left a cyclist dead on Friday night.
Niagara police said they were called to Concession Road 6 near Line 4 at 11:30 p.m. for reports of a cyclist who had been struck.
When they arrived, officers located the cyclist who was later pronounced dead.
Police said the driver fled and did not report the collision.
Their investigation led them to another location where the vehicle was discovered and the driver arrested.
In a news release on Saturday, police identified the driver as Gavin Devries from Niagara-on-the-Lake.
He was charged with impaired operation causing death and failure to stop after an accident resulting in death.
