Male and youth charged with firearm, drug offences after driving into Peel police patrol car

Peel police say Omar Camara is charged with several firearm and drug related offences.

A man and a youth have been charged with gun and drug related offences after driving into a Peel Regional Police (PRP) car in Mississauga earlier this week.

Peel police say on Feb. 3 just after 11 a.m., officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sardis Crescent and Lee Drive near Dixie Road.

When officers arrived, their patrol car was struck by the suspect vehicle, according to police.

They say the vehicle was successfully pinned and the driver arrested, but the passenger attempted to flee on foot and discarded a gun during the chase.

Police say officers seized a loaded 9mm Glock 48 handgun as well as large amounts of cocaine and fentanyl.

Omara Camara, 22, and a male youth are both charged with illegal possession of a loaded firearm, dangerous operation of a vehicle, drug trafficking, flight from a peace officer, and number of other charges.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the youth accused cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
