A new video has surfaced capturing an early morning house fire in Brampton that left one person injured.

Peel Regional Police say they were called to a home located in the area of Hillcrest Avenue and Truman Street just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

In security footage from a neighbouring home, obtained by CTV News Toronto, a bright orange light flickers through the windows before two people scurry outside. Moments later, thick black smoke billows from the home as another man, who lives at the residence, walks outside. Police have not said if they are looking for any suspects at this time.

The video shows smoke engulfing the home as fire crews arrive on the scene.

“En route, crews had a head of heavy black smoke and subsequently upgraded to a second alarm,” Brampton Fire Chief Nick Ruller told reporters.

“On arrival, they had fire showing from multiple openings of this detached, two-story home.”

Ruller says fire crews were able to knock down the fire in a short amount of time.

Police say a man was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear what caused the fire or if anyone else was at the home at the time.

Police confirmed they’re working with Brampton Fire in their investigation. The Office of the Marshal has been notified.
