Police charged a 24-year-old from Quebec after a missing girl was believed to be sexually trafficked in Peel Region, officers say.

Peel Regional Police say they were notified by Longueuil Police of the missing youth on Sept. 9, as investigators identified a rental home in Brampton as a potential location for her whereabouts.

The following day, on Sept. 10, police say they arrested a man outside of the Brampton residence.

Authorities say the girl was found safe at a second location, but did not share where that was. They add that she has been reuinted with her family.

In Tuesday’s news release, police said they arrested Nahom Teklahaymanot, of St. Laurent, Que., who is facing various charges including procuring and trafficking a person under 18 years old.

Teklahaymanot was held for a bail hearing in Brampton.

Investigators believe there may be more victims in the Greater Toronto Area, Montreal and Longueuil.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
