Fatal crash on Highway 401 near Ayr

A Brampton man has died after his truck slammed into the back of another truck on Highway 401. CTV’s Ashley Bacon reports.

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision on Highway 401, between Ayr and Drumbo, on Thursday.

A transport truck slammed into the back of a flatbed truck just east of Blenheim Road around 7 a.m.

The driver of the transport, who was only identified as a 26-year-old man from Brampton, died at the scene.

“The driver of the other commercial vehicle was injured,” OPP Const. Matthew Foster told CTV News. “Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family and loved ones.”

All eastbound lanes between Oxford Road 29 in Drumbo and the Cedar Creek Road exit were closed for the remainder of the morning.

Police are asking witnesses who may have dash cam video to contact investigators.

OPP also had a reminder for other drivers.

“[You] want to remain vigilant while travelling on the roads,” Foster advised. “Road conditions can change very quickly. Just give yourself some extra time. We want everyone to drive safely and get where they’re going.”
