Peel police have released new details about a vehicle they believe was involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Mississauga on Friday night.

Officials say officers were called to the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Fallingbrook Drive, west of Mavis Road, at 9:05 p.m. for reports that an adult male pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

The victim, whom police have only identified as a 56-year-old man from Missisauga, later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the motorist fled the scene westbound on Eglinton and “did not render assistance.”

They have since identified the involved vehicle as a 2014–2018 Mini Cooper S. and say it is believed to have significant damage to the right-side front end, hood, and windshield.
