Police charged a group of teenagers following a series of carjackings in Brampton and Mississauga this month.

The first incident happened on Dec. 10, at around 8:40 p.m., in the area of Humberwest Parkway and Queen Street East in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police say a suspect vehicle intentionally hit the back of a newer-model BMW SUV, prompting the victim to get out of the car and run away. They allege the suspect vehicle was occupied by a group of masked individuals.

Police say they found the vehicle later, damaged and unoccupied.

The second incident occurred three days later, at around 5:20 p.m., in the area of Eglinton Avenue and Ridgeway Drive in Mississauga.

This time, police allege three suspects approached a victim brandishing a knife.

“Fearing for his safety, the victim surrended the keys to his vehicle, which the suspects used to flee the area,” Friday’s news release reads.

The stolen vehicle was later involved in a collision on Highway 403, police said, where the suspects were then seen getting into a vehicle used during the first carjacking.

Officers saw the suspect vehicle in the area of Dundas Street West and Winston Churchill Boulevard at around 5 p.m. on Monday. They allege the occupants were wearing masks and gloves at that time.

Peel police shared video of their arrests in a post on X, breaking down how tactical officers and the K-9 unit took down the group.

Based on the footage, a compilation of body camera and police chopper video, one of the suspects is seen breaking off from the group as police chased after them, but ultimately the various groups of officers arrest them all.

“These were violent crimes which will carry lasting impacts on the victims and our community,” Depty. Chief Nick Milinovich said in the release.

“The arrests will end this crime spree, prevent others in our communities from being targeted and ensure the suspects are held accountable for their actions.”

Two 16-year-olds, of Brampton and Mississauga, and 18-year-old Tayvien Coley are facing charges, including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

The two teens both face a count of fail to comply with release order, and cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The charges have not been tested in court.

Investigators are asking anyone with additional information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
