A 29-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a cube van in Brampton on Thursday night.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Queen Street West and McLaughlin Road shortly before 6 p.m.

Peel police Const. Taylor Halfyard said the woman was crossing the intersection when she was hit by the van as the driver was making a right turn from Queen Street West onto McLaughlin Road.
The woman was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition but was later pronounced dead, Halfyard said.
“What I can say is that we stopped the vehicle a little short distance down the road at McLaughlin Road and Charlay Boulevard,” he said.
“Circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation, and part of that is obviously the question that we have the investigators in the Major Collision Bureau are whether or not the driver of that cube van did realize that they had been involved in a collision.”

Halfyard said the driver of the van remained after he was stopped by police.
He urged witnesses or anyone with information about the collision to contact investigators at 905-453-2121 ext. 3710 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
