Two years after a body was found dumped in Caledon, Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest.

Police were summoned to Chinguacousy Road and King Street in Caledon after the body of a deceased man was found on April 1, 2024.

A post-mortem confirmed the body was that of David Robson, 65, of Melancthon, and the Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the cause of death was homicide.

Robson was last seen on March 21 at approximately 5 p.m. in the Melancthon.

He had been reported missing on March 25, as was his black 2017 Kia Sportage with Ontario licence plate DAMZ 252.

On the same date, his residence was reported on fire.

Today, Jacek Trela, 29-years-old of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • First degree murder,
  • Arson,
  • Indignity to a body

Trela remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Wednesday.

However, police are still looking for accomplices.

“While an arrest has been made in connection with the homicide of David Robson, we believe other individuals may be involved. We continue to urge anyone with information to contact police. Our goal is to hold all those responsible for David’s death accountable and provide answers to his family,” said OPP Det.-Insp. Mark Allison of the CIB.

Police believe others may be involved or have information that could assist the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Dufferin OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
